Rima & Dave

Today I had the privilege of working with beautiful NYC-based Miriam as my second photographer, and also clients that put so much of themselves into the details of the wedding that it was bound to be special. Rima and Dave are a beautiful balance to one another, and their ceremony and reception brought together his comic book drawing Jewish American side and her detail-oriented Saudi Arabian Muslim family in a wonderful mix of ethnic, religious, and personality clashes that somehow ended up just working. I loved that instead of a unity candle during the ceremomy they created a honey ceremony that symbolized the sweetness of love... and read some Rumi writings that blow your socks off. Although, they never did end up jumping the broom as his mother suggested.

Today was filled with firsts, from the programs that brought out Rima's graphic designer side to our photo session that included not only a trip to the comic book store, but also Rima and Dave joining in with the Harvard marching band in a parade. It was pretty amazing.

I leave you with one image. There are times as a photographer that you know instantly that the photo you are taking crosses from normal into extraordinary. The image haunts you all day, flickering in and out of your consciousness even though you are taking thousands more. Rima, you are so amazingly beautiful.

If I could multiply Rima and Dave a million times and work with them every weekend for the rest of my life, this job would never get tiresome.

Rachel: Ever consider that your whisper-like presence and warmth behibnd the camera actually inspired much
of the beauty and humor you caught with the shutter-flash?
There are photographers....and then there are new friends who immediately add grace and style to a Event and Celebration just by smiling at a bunch of blissful strangers.....thanks for being such a superb part of Rima and A Dave's special day.
