one image many ways

I still hear about people who decide that rather than investing in the services of a professional wedding photographer, they'll save money by going with a family member who offers to take some photographs for free or a friend of a friend who will cut them a deal. There are many reasons I would caution against asking someone who is not accustomed to photographing a wedding - even if they have what seems like all the gear - but the most compelling reason has to do with what happens to the images after the wedding. This image from a destination engagement session in Honolulu is a perfect example. All of these images were taken split seconds apart, and processed in different ways. I now have many choices as to which image is the most compelling. And together... wow. How stunning.

Obviously I am biased, but I am also a bride myself. I know that the investment will be worth it when my grandchildren are looking at my wedding photos.

100% agree. We originally weren't going to hire a photographer for our wedding because Mark's uncle (I'm sure you remember him!) was a "pro." Boy am I glad we changed our minds before it was too late!!! We have so many more great photos from our wedding to show off that we never would have gotten otherwise.
